What do you enjoy about teaching/your job?
I enjoy sharing big ideas, learning through teaching and being surprised.
What do you love about your area?
Contemporary art is such a diverse field; each project challenges you to learn and develop new skills and strategies. My favourite works are ones that are socially engaged.
Tell us about your experience in the industry
I am originally from Australia, where I lectured at Monash University and ran a contemporary gallery. I spent four years in Brooklyn, New York lecturing at CUNY and managing a studio before moving to the Waikato to be close to whānau.
What keeps you busy outside of Media Arts?
I go to the awa for inspiration. I keep busy reading, swimming, cooking and spending time with whānau.
