- - Best practice health and safety in the workplace - Hazard identification and management - Planning to ensure a safe work environment: resources, materials, training - Principles of infection control - Personal safety & infection control: standard precautions, barrier precautions, handwashing and sanitising - Infection control assessment - Effectiveness of infection control measures - Sharps, needlestick injury, and medical waste - Blood/ body spill kits - Treaty of Waitangi and Maaori Health Models - Tikanga that relate to blood and body waste - Emergency treatments including first aid - Incident and accident reporting - Measurement, evaluation and reporting on performance and improvement against H&S goals

- Assessment Criteria
- Assessment in this course supports both achievement and competency-based assessment. Competency-based course completion: Akonga must successfully complete all specified assessment items in order to pass this course. Achievement based course completion: Akonga must submit all specified assessment items, achieve all learning outcomes, and obtain at least 50% overall in order to pass this course.
