Learning Outcomes
Develop and monitor programmes for plant health and pest, disease and weed management. Apply knowledge of soil water management and irrigation systems used in amenity horticulture for plant and soil health. Apply knowledge of form, use, aesthetic qualities and health of plants and plant combinations to develop and monitor inputs to achieve aesthetic and functional effects in amenity horticulture.

- Soil structure, texture and nutrient levels specific to amenity plants and amenity plantings - Fertiliser programmes - Physiological disorders of plants - Management programmes for pests and diseases and weeds - Pruning and training reasons, methods and schedules - Irrigation installation, maintenance, and scheduling. - Aesthetic qualities of plants and plantings - Plant form - Plant health - Reporting - Problem Solving
Teaching and Learning Strategy
Teaching and learning methods will be face to face delivery including workshops, project based interactive tasks, with group sessions, tutorials, and creation of portfolios of evidence.
Assessment Criteria
Assessment in this module is mixed mode (both Achievement and Competency) based. To achieve a pass grade for the module the student must complete all pieces of assessment work achieving full competency in any competency-based tasks and gain a mark of at least 50% overall for the achievement-based assessments.
